Carbine saddle bar and ring

Posted by JasonZ in MO on Friday, 12 November 2010, at 7:32 p.m.

Pete / Dick anyone! Did I get snookered????

Last week I found a saddle bar and ring which I need for my carbine. The bar on my gun was cut and ground off. I found on ebay a thin bar and ring described as "original", "NICE PATINA SOME WARE". I have a later carbine which I think should have the thick bar but with a buy it now price of $85 I was sure I wouldn't get hurt. The pictures looked a bit shiny but took the seller at his word... "original". I received it today and it's not shiny like the pictures. It does show some age, so far so good. After trying to install it, I have my doubts.

The plates (washers) don't fit into the mortises on the stock and the lock plate screw holes don't quite line up. I guess the plates could have a bit of a twist but they still have a slightly different outline compared to my stock and the old plate/washers.

I also think the original rings were solid. This one is clearly welded.

Would someone take a look at this listing and give me their opinion? The item # is 110607190355 on ebay. He does have some detailed pictures.

Thank you,

Jason
