That rifle is about as nice as you will find. NO worries there, at all. Some have letters at the witness marks, some don't. I believe that is actually a "D", and I have seen it before, many times.

If I were in an earlier stage of collecting, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, as not many rifles from the "middle years" have survived in that condition. There are a LOT of "minty" 1889s out there, but precious few like that from the earlier period.
