Re: Non-Custer Carbines SN check

Good morning Jason,

Well, I chec ked through all four volumes of the SRS "SERIAL NUMBERS OF U.S. MARTIAL ARMS", and there weren't any "hits" on your two Carbine numbers 415404 and 452077.

BOOK #4 has comparatively very few TRAPDOORS listed at all.

In BOOK #2 the closest on either side of 415404 are 411911 and 416102, both listed as "84"R (Model 1884 Service Rifles) and for 452077 are 450204 and 450204 and453661, also both "84R". So, no cigar there.

In BOOK #3 for 415404 there are 415142 and 415461, both listed as "84C" (Model 1884 Carbines) and for 452077 there are 449309 below and 452110 and 452342 above - - all 3 being listed as "84C".

And in BOOK #1 for 415404 there are 412037 and 415925, both listed as "84R". But for 452077 they list 452011 and 452523, both listed as "84C" and followed by a group of 18 more "84C" guns ranging from 452582 through 452972 and all associated (in 1898" with "COMPANY G OF THE 1ST NEVADA VOLUNTEER CAVALRY".

I don't know whether that will be of any help or not.

With best regards,

PETE
