Read, THE ORDNANCE OFFICER, in Charles King's, TRIALS OF A STAFF OFFICER. Very enlightening om the preps at Fort D.A. Russell, for the 1876 campaign, and the subsequent chaos (almost as bad as the supplying) in accounting for the materiel expended. The Horse Meat March, under Crook, lost much equipment and King was frazzled by the problems of supplying the column and its aftermath.
