Hi Al,

Sorry - - I was 3/4 of the way through trying to post a response to your posting and I had included a reference to your WebSite in quoting what you had said about this gun when you had it posted - - anythow, I lost the posting (the old "SPAM RULES", I guess.

Anyhow, I said that one thing noticeable is that the bottoms of the three characters ("656") did NOT appear to be well aligned (vertically), almost as if they had indeed been stamped as individual characters, rather than using a frame-jig. Might this have been the case? The stamping quality, font size and style (seriphed), and penetration depth did not (at least to my untrained eye) appear to be all that difference from what I see on my M1868 and M1869 Cadet. I'll try to get a decent digital photo and send it to you.
