Re: trial rifles

Dick, the fact that Springfield made the rifles and did not issue them is very interesting. One has to ask, Why weren't they issued??? Was there a problem?? Why does there seem to be no reference to the guns being in the arsenal???

The act that the rifles did not get into circulation until long after the M73s were issued is very interesting. Also, we know how guard units like to clean their weapons periodically. I wonder how many of the original parts ever got back on the original stocks after cleaning.

Making a very detailed flyer is going to be very difficult and will require photos or careful drawings for the collector to study. Also, how many flyers will be returned. I have records on about 10, but most people only have seen one or two and probably did not record the data.
