Springfield Trapdoor 1873

Posted by Darl Johnson on Thursday, 30 September 2010, at 9:06 p.m.

I have a Springfield 1873 that has a black diamond inlaid on the right hand side of the stock; a white diamond inlaid with a dot in front of it and behind it on the top of the stock behind the trigger hammer; underneath in front of the trigger guard there is a diamond and four round dots approximately 1/8 inch in diameter and a spear head. The material looks like ivory. Can anyone give me any information on what these markings mean?
