Sorry, but I've nothing to add to my initial opinion, nor can I explain how your particular arm came to be.

The configuration of your gun, while nicely and gracefully done (and yes, someone did cut back both wood and metal) matches no known Springfield configuration.

It is clearly (for several basic reasons, which I attempted to outline) neither a carbine nor a cadet rifle. Correct examples of an 1869 Cadet Rifle, and an 1870 Carbine, may been seen at wwwDOTpicturetrailDOTcom/sa4570af There are a number of conflicts.
