Re: Couple of questions about Trapdoor Receiver

Dick, The 26000-range receiver is number 26547. I will probably use that receiver for my cobbled together carbine. If that changes, I will let you know. It is a better receiver than 14042 and it falls into the range for the 1874 band and other features I want to put on this carbine such as two-click tumbler, etc.

Crazy as it sounds, when I was much younger, a good friend of my father's owned a very nice early carbine with all the early features that I could identify at the time, including the 1874 band. I always coveted that carbine or one like it, but was never able to locate one that I could afford or that I didn't have serious questions about. Now I could probably afford to buy one, but my wife would divorce me if I did. So, I thought I would put my gun-building skills to work and build one for myself from original parts (the stock is new)similar to the one I coveted years ago. Bill M.
