Good morning Dick,
Having just hit "The Big 73" myself on 20 August, I too been having the exact same thoughts myself of late. And with neither son having the slightest interest in guns or militaria in general - - or "TRAPDOOR" Springfields in particular - - I have been doing some real soul-searching about eventual disposition. My concerns are not necessarily financial but rather one of wanting to make sure that my "treasures" are passed along to be appreciated by future generations who will appreciate them for what they are and give them a good home. If the [REAL] Springfield Armory had room (and the interest) I would probably lean that way, although I have been considering a few of the museums in the area which already have established firearm collections. Just one of those idle thoughts which so through ones mind as time goes by, and thanks for bringing it up.
I Hope that all is well with you folks,
The old "Grasshoppuh"
