Re: original 1884 US Springfield

Where do we begin.

First off, it's a good lookin' "carbine". BUT, it's a fake carbine.

The breech block is from a model '84. The trigger guard is '84. O.K. so far, but the rear sight is a Model '79. This would be Totally wrong on an '84. The front sight looks suspicious. The picture of the but plate is too fuzzy to see if it has a "trap". The stock is NOT "original" as stated.

Fact is the gun is a "clone". Kindest word I could come up with. It is obvious that it NOT an original carbine.

I would like to see this serial number up close!!!! Much better pics would help here.

PLEASE revise the listing to reflect the true nature of this weapon. I do not like to trow stones, but you are making statements about this item that are not based on fact or knowledge. This gives all of us who love & collect these fine old guns a bad taste.

Do the right thing & pull the listing until you have researched the item & can make truthful representations about it.

The bidder has no idea what he has bid on if in fact this is a true bidder.

I do not have the years of research that Dick has but I can spot a fake from across the street.

DO THE RIGHT THING--Pull the listing.

Ernie
