Black Hills Ammunition

Posted by James Meredith on Sunday, 29 August 2010, at 8:10 p.m.

At a gun show, I recently bought a box of "Black Hills Ammunition", SMOKELESS, 45-70, lead 405 Gr.FPL, thinking they were "Cowboy Action". I planned to use them in a 1879 built trapdoor carbine, but upon reading the fine print on the box, which says "for use only in modern firearms that are designed and intended for firing with smokeless powder ammunition, I am having second thoughts. Would it be wise to pull the bullets and replace the smokeless powder with black powder? Jim
