Re: 1873 Trapdoor to clean or not to clean

Thank you Dick for your response! I ask that question because I'm a little stumped when looking at weapons for sale, I have seen where a rifle that has likely been cleaned have a higher price than the same gun offered that has not been cleaned at all? Never less, your response is what I was expecting and will proceed with caution as you have recommended.

I also have a Sharps 1876 45/70 and I would like to shoot and hunt with these two arms. Is this a bad idea for collector pieces like these? I know I could purchase a modern made reproduction to use but I like the idea of using the very same gun that others before me have used.

If this is not a poor idea, any recomendation to a cowboy ammunition that would be suitable?

Thanks again for your comments! Mike Dorsey
