Re: 1873 springfield trapdoor carbine

I feel safe shooting smokeless "cowboy" loads but have recently purchased some Goex .45-70-405 black powder loads to get the feel for the way it was really like to shoot in the 1880s. As soon as the weather cools off a bit, I'll take my trapdoor to the range and try it out. Personally, I wouldn't shoot modern loads except "cowboy" and black powder.
