Missed seeing you at the July OGCA Meeting (which I missed because of a really bad sinus infection). But I had noted your posting about a Firing Pin and Rear Sight Base for the Remington-Lee (about which I know nothing at all - - like so many other things). But I also saw Al Hearn's posting suggesting S&S Firearms (Phil Siess) up in Glendale, New York. He was the first one I thought of when I saw your posting, and I had called him this morning. He found what he thinks is the correct Pin (it was tagged as being for the Remington-Lee and was marked "$25.00"). And as (I think it was) Dick Hosmer said, the Rear Sight Base is the same as one of the Model 1879 Buckhorn Sight variants (?). Phil said they were stamped with "R-L" but (apparently) otherwise identical. And he has a bunch of the M1879s, but none with the special stamping. He has a short "REMINGTON-LEE" section, as Al Hearn mentioned, on Page 24 of the "S&S FIREARMS 2010 CATALOG OF MILITARY AMERICANA" (53rd Anniversary Edition).
I tried to call your business phone a short while ago, but I got your recorded message and left you a message to call me.
Anyway, if you get this posting and want to call Phil, it's:
S&S FIREARMS, INC. 74-11 Myrtle Avenue Glendale, New York 11385 (718) 497-1100 [WEBSITE: www(dot)ssfirearms(dot)com] [E-Mail: INFO(at)SSFirearms(dot)com]
Pete Nelson p.s. See you at OGCA in September.
p.p.s. My concern is not whether somebody tells Al that you "own a Remington" - - it's whether they tell BEV! [:>)].
