Thanks for the info. That seems to be a very high serial number for a Model 1878. For safety and cutoff, does your carbine have a recessed "button" with twist bar on the right side, or a pair of pivoting levers on each side of the receiver? The "R" marked sight will have a negative effect on demand, if not on price as well - it should have "H.C." and go to 800 yds.

Do you have the cleaning rods? They seem to be worth $300+, just by themselves. I'd expect the carbine alone to ultimately sell somewhere in the $1500-$2000 range, but I would not expect a quick sale - the market is soft.
