I checked the serial number, since many of those low-numbered arms were - or are purported to have been - carbines. The very high 13xxx and low 14xxx ranges contain a bit more than their share of "iffy" entries. So, to find such a "no-pretenses" rifle is helpful, even if it is "negative data" for the carbine archives. Thanks.

Personally, I'd look for an original stock. And, if you can find one that has a couple of warts, it will go well with the rifle, as well as likely costing somewhat less.
