Hi Jim, Well good, can I call you a convert now? The M1898 rifle cartridge was a smokeless loading using the 500 grain bullet. I have yet to try this one, but the smell of blackpowder is all but irrestistable. Do you have a copy of "Loading cartridges for the original .45 Springfield rifle and carbine", by J.S and Pat Wolf? That is the one to have for those who want to replicate the original Arsenal loadings. Contact Wolf's Western Traders if you need one. As of yet I have'nt attempted to look for Bayberry tallow.
