Re: 1873 - 1884 mismatch

For sure the cartouche is 1898 JSA in Script for J.S. Adams on the left side. There is without a shadow of doubt that its authentic. Exactly the same as found on the Krag's. Its in perfect condition. Hence the reason for the post. The real question I have is: were the 1873's made after the 1884 changes? I have seen serial numbers in this range described as 1873's and not 1884's. As I stated before the gun is in new condition with a 1898 cartouche, so for sure it was inspected by Adam's in 1898. Wether or not the action is original to the stock, the stock was inspected as a complete gun in 1898.
