You appear to have a normal "Second Model Allin Conversion", aka "Model 1866 Rifle" in .50-70. They were not serial numbered, so, nothing is "missing", and no special usage is indicated thereby. In addition to being used on the Western frontier, in several noted battles - one being the "Wagon-Box Fight" of 1867 - many were later sold to France for use in the Franco-Prussian War, but it was over before they got there. Many of those intended for use abroad ultimately returned to the U.S.
