The whole gun is 'blue'. I think it is a 1884 model that wasnt stamped. (they didnt stamp them 1884 till 87. It has the Buffington rear site on it. I suppose there is no way to tell when it was reblued. It is a really good job! Did the arsnal refinish them? and is there any place I can cross referance the SS number to the unit it was assigned to? I am sure this was used one way or another in the Spanish American war and then the owner brought it home. Thanks Pat
