Chester There is a description of the original Springfield carbine swivel bar and bases and swivel ring on page 231 of Book 1 of the 45-70 Springfield by Frasca and Hill. The description says “ the swivel bar, the ends of which pass through the swivel bases and are riveted to their underside”. I have never looked at the H&R carbine to see if same method used to attach swivel bar to bases. Maybe some of the H&R carbine shooters can answer that. – Jim Stewart
