Re: MY (was Pete's) Colt SAA

I have a fairly decent black-powder .45LC in the 134xxx range (1890/91) - not a US. It was rebarreled (5-1/2") in the 30s or 40s. Bore is still perfect.

Previous owner - my godfather - had very small hands, and he built up the grip with some horrible plastic wood material, which does not seem to have hurt the metal, though the stuff will have to be chipped off.

I've been thinking of getting a 7-1/2" barrel, of some vintage, and a one-piece wood grip, so as to approximate the appearance of a cavalry model, in my display. Any thoughts? The gun has already been fooled with, so no harm there. I have no idea what the original caliber was - may have been .45LC, may not. It is absolutely NOT for sale, though the barrel might be, or perhaps a trade?

I should run it by John Kopec - I see him every year at the March Redding show.
