Re: Pete, Burnside Carbine

My favorite Burnside story - which I've probably told before (am getting old) involves a co-worker on my first real "office" job, which was in 1958.

His mother, bless her soul, knowing that he "liked old guns" purchased a pair of carbines at a rummage sale, for almost nothing, in the early 50s - they had been hanging on the wall of some fraternal organization - which was then being disbanded - forever.

One was (FULLY) painted yellow, the other, blue. Many, many hours - and much elbiw grease - later, my friend had a matching pair of absolutely MINT Burnsides, to say nothing of them being consecutively numbered! The ugly, and thick, paint job had preserved them perfectly.
