Re: Pete's Colt SAA

Hello Dick,

Yep - - that's kind of where I was, and I just decided that while I'm still breathing I might as well go for it. I researched it about as carefully as I could (including an off-chance call to Mr. Kopec in Redding, California - - and got him on the line) and checked markings on probably a couple of dozen of previously-vetted Colts (several by Mr. Kopec and a local Colt expert) before I made the "plunge". And mine is nowhere at the high-end, is almost entirely nice even patina, very good cartouched single-piece walnut grip, good stamping done in the format practically identical to all the ones I looked at, etc.

Yes, every time I thought about going ahead with it I thought about all the furor surrounding "Larry" Wilson (and others), but I also thought I could wait forever. Anyhow, now that I have been fortunate enough to have assembled a modest little collection of very nice Springfields which I am very happy with and which pretty muich cover the 1865-1893 time span, it seemed that the time for a Colt was probably at hand.

I Hope that all is going very well with you folks.

Best,

PETE
