Dick- I am sure it is old, and it is interesting, but I really need to see a sample from OUR S.W.P. (or have someone who has access to compare this one with an original) before jumping to conclusions.

There must have been a lot of folks named Samuel W. Porter, and I hope this is not one of them.

I don't want to prejudice thoughts on this one by telling more at this time, but will gladly share later.

Maybe Al has a copy of something he signed.

That leads to a secondary question- I wonder if the cartouche initials attempted to imitate the actual handwriting of the person they represented, or just were the stamp maker's best attempt to duplicate the good penmanship taught in schools at the time.
