The poor condition could have been because, of the fact that the Maine State College used them for a very short time and they were sent to high school cadet corps. But it also seems that Mainers are hard on their arms, I have record that one of the issued officer's models was turned in as being "broken". I wonder what a ham handed militia lieutenant(presumably)did to it.
