Mr Hosmer- Just re-checked that 1884 with the 1896 cartouche. It's a full length rifle. !884 breech block, 2 piece trigger guard, w/ serrated trigger, Buffington sight w/"R". Front band w/ sling & stacking swivel. Pulled off butt plate, no drilled trap. But did find a few things, above lower screw was upside down "22" w/ serifs. About an inch above that was a right side up "23". Next to that are the letters "OAL? " w/ a fourth not legible. Overall a beautiful rifle, appears unused in a very late replacement stock. All appears legit. Any input? THX SKIPH
