Posted by Cathy Long on Friday, 19 March 2010, at 2:48 p.m.

I have a Springfield rifle model 1876, serial #17742. It is in excellent condition, can you give me a general value. I also have a 1873 model it is a commerative rifle 1st Lieut. James E. Porter Ico. 7th US Cavalry. With engraving and bluing still on barrel, I realize the later is a reproduction it also comes with 2 books. On the other side of the barrel is Born in Stron, Maine 1847 and Commissioned, 2nd, Lieut, 7th, Cav. June1869 Unerneath by the trigger says Missing in Action with Indians., June 25 1876 Little BigHorn River MT. Any information would be helpful.
