Thank you for the response. Besides the low serial number, do the cartouches saying co.F.6th, also add creadance to the theory that this carbine was from Gen. Crooks command. The cartouche on top {comb side] by metal butt plate is, (CO.F.6TH) is inside an oval, pressed in the wood. Similar in size to the other military inspector cartouches, that are on some of my other rifles, hand guns etc. Approx. 1/2 inch. Thanks again, Robert Graves....
