The Model 1884 stamp was used from about 1885/86 (they were still using up Model 1873 blocks!) until end of production. "Model 1888" is a term used by collectors for those with the ramrod-bayonet. Yours is thus entirely correct as marked.

There ARE (only)100 rifles actually marked "Model 1888" but, they were experimental, having a specially-made locking cam, which is a COMPLETELY different story, for another time.
