another question if you don't mind--you indentify my rifle as 1888 model but the breech block bears the stamp "model 1884"-so are you telling me the serial number is the true indicator of what the actual model is?--by the way, you're right, the tip of the bayonet/rod is shaped like a phillips screwdriver--thanks again, I just would like to be sure I have things straight
