Help identifing a Trapdoor Model 1184

Posted by CHAD on Wednesday, 2 December 2009, at 11:45 a.m.

I recently came accross a US Sprinfield Model 1884 (cartouche 1891) The serial #335259. Appears to be in very good condition, has a large 'E' stamped on the side of the stock close to the buttplate. Also some random letters stamped on the barrel between the trapdoor and sight. After allittle research it does not have the sight guards, missing the cleaning rod and whatever might have been in the compartment in the rear of the buttstock. Any info is greatly appreciated. Not looking to sell just would like to try and find the history to tell my kids and hopefully be able to pass on to future generations.
