The bullet size should be .458-459. Some folks shoot .461 in worn barrels.

If you want to completely eliminate the black powder mess, try Hodgden's Trail Boss smokeless powder in you cadet. The load I use for 300-330 grain bullets is 14&1/2 grains of Trail Boss. You can fill the gap between the powder & bullet with Cream Of Wheat. If you do this always compress the C-O-W & load soo's the powder & C-O-W won't mix.

You can download a loading chart at the Hodgden Web Site. It covers several powders & bullet weights.

Remember this, as the bullet weight goes up so dose the cup pressure. I stick to the lighter weights for pukin' paper.
