No, shape of stock only has to do with "early" or "late", not rifle vs. carbine. Below ABOUT 70000, the comb is 9.5" long, after it is 10.25", and the wrist is thicker around as well. This revision only applies to standard rifles and carbines - the cadet rifle stock (very similar to, but NOT exactly the same as, "early") never changed
