That would start in 1874, with the Red River War in present day Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Also, that year would include the Yellowstone Expedition on the Northern Plains (re: 7th Cavalry). That is just a start. There are several lists of engagements with the Indians, with appr. 937, depending on which source, for the 1866-1891 era. Frencis Heitman's HISTORICAL DICTIONARY AND REGISTER (That is not the exact title) has such a list. Another is something like, OFFICIAL REGISTER OF ENGAGEMENTS WITH HOSTILE INDIANS. Sorry to be so inprecise, but I am too lazy to look up the titles and I just started a new job, today. Perhaps someone else will be kind enough to do so?
