Dick thank you or your time and your response. I went back and remeasured the barrel. I closed the TD and inserted a wooden dowel inside the barrel and it measured 23 1/2 inches. Measured from the end of the barrel, the front sight measures 1 1/4 and to the rear sight 17 5/16 inch and finally to the front of the hinge of the trap door 23 1/4 inch. The cleaning rod is seated properly in the foregrip and the barrel is just about a 1/4 inch longer. I have looked this thing over real close and dont see any tooling marks for shorting the barrel.

Once again thank you for your time and information. This weapon was my grandfathers and my grandmother wanted me to have it.
