Having revisited some of my "newer" rifles recently, I actually find the recoil of the trapdoor to be less sharp. I use American Pioneer FF. More of a shove than a kick... then again, I'm usually wearing a shoulder pad. In any event, it's nothing like the mule behind an 85 grain charge in a bottleneck 577/450 Martini-Henry :)
