I have recently inherited a 1884 Springfield carbine(?) serial #4470xx from my great grandfather. I have had a hard time getting info on it so I thought I would look here for help. The gun is in excelent condition with very little wear (90-95%), however it has no sights. My questions are 1.Is it a carbine or known as something else? 2.Was it made in 1884? 3.Should I try to find sights or leave it alone? 4.What is it's approximate value? 5.Any other interesting information you can tell me.. Thanks for any and all help. -Ryan
