Looking for family's M1873

Posted by Daniel on Monday, 12 October 2009, at 10:06 p.m.

This is a complete pot shot, but stranger things have happened on the Internet.

I am looking for the M1873 trapdoor rifle my dad played with when he was a kid. He described it as a single shot breach rifle. It was obtained by one of our relatives from the Spanish/American war. We still have the bayonet, but my dad traded it for some camping gear. We still have photos of my dad playing with the rifle and bayonet. Are there any antique dealers in Ohio with an M1873 rifle that could have come from Wapakoneta, OH in the mid 1950's matching this description? The rifle was falling about then, and may be nothing more than parts now.
