Thank you for the information. The rifle is currently at my gunsmiths.A close inspection showed no date on lock plate.I will clean and look again for sight mounting screw holes that have been filled. The gunsmith says the bore is 3-groove,is dark and has strong rifling. He also thinks replacing the breach block with another used original may be more affordable than repairing the one on the rifle which has a mashed in and stuck firing pin,not working ejector and twinged-up release lever.I will look for the two screw heads on the upper tang. The current breach block does have a nice finish on it,locks up well, and has clear markings on it.
