Re: M1884 "flatlatch" RRB

Three of the four rod-bayonet TDs are shown on my website [wwwDOTpicturetrailDOTcom/sa4570af]

M1880 Triangular: 154-158xxx range (156967 shown) M1882 Triangular (28" barrrel): 1974xx range (am looking for this one!) M1884 Round "flatlatch": 314-321xxx range (318991 shown) M1888 Round: 500xxx and up (527686 shown)

All but the last one are marked 1873 on the block. The last is marked 1884. There IS an 1888 marked block, but it is for an entirely different (and super rare) model, with a story of its' own.

The first is rare, the second is SUPER rare, the third is very rare, but the fourth (what you have) is fairly common. Sorry to burst your bubble! :-(
