1877 Carbine

Posted by David Hodge on Thursday, 28 May 2009, at 2:24 p.m.

I have an 1877 Trapdoor carbine ser #75xxx that has mostly 1874 parts!! The stock even has the keyhole butt plate with the three holes. Condition is fine but the bore is near mint.

My question is, is this common for Springfield to use older parts on newer models? I do understand that Springfield was frugal but they usually did the opposite, up grade.

Sincerely,

Dave
