Even with his extensive knowledge, I would have to think that is TOTALLY incorrect. That was the latest model available, thousands have unit markings from troops known to have been so deployed, there are photographs of troops armed with trapdoors, also reports of the blackpowder smoke attracting enemy fire, etc.

The ONLY thing I can think of, since I do not recall seeing a photo clearly showing a RRB, is that he found some obscure documentation that only earlter models were used, but, there is NO question that TDs of some sort saw SAW use, both in Cuba AND the Philippines.

Why don't you ask him? [:-)] Warning - Warning - he does NOT like to be challenged on his pronouncements, wear your asbestos pants!!!
