Thanks for adding your perspective, which sure makes sense to me. Prior to Swiss powder (requires less compression) becoming the favorite of the silhouette crowd, Goex was the preferred powder and generally required significant compression for consistent burns. That certainly is one very plausible explanation for the general trend from the hotter magnum rifle primers to the milder large pistol primers.
