Depends on the load. If you are shooting target type loads with minimal compression then the "softer" primers work well. However, if you are replicating rifle service loads that are heavily compressed then the hotter "magnum" type primer is best. I have run too many rounds of both over an Oehler M35P while shooting for group with my TDs to state otherwise. Spence Wolf's book explains the "whys" to use a hotter magnum primer with service loads.
