It wouldn't suprise me that it has been worked on a bit. I believe the stock has been sanded, because while the "frame" of the cartouche is visible, Allin's initials themselves aren't really.

I'm still happy with it. The bore in it shines nicely and is in much better shape than my '73 or '84. I paid $700 for it, and lately I've seen a lot worse for a lot more. It's still a piece of history, and I enjoy making it bark again.

About the pic: I am a programmer, so I guess it seemed second nature to me.
