Reading back over your posts, I see that the carbine was, at one time, from Wisconsin?

I have a very close acquaintance in Racine who collects ONLY "First Model" 1873 carbines - he has around 20 of them now - and we have pored over the numbers together, many times. He is the ONLY person with whom I have shared my entire database, which has now topped 1000 entries. If HE had ever owned, or ever knew of, 36451 before seeing it on my list, I would be aware of it.

This really IS a mystery.
