Re: Springfield 1873 Carbines (LBH?)

Amy,

I found SOME of my correspondence - that which was filed on my computer. The balance, handwritten (since I did not use email with him) is filed away, but I will try to find it.

The Schoeppl family DEFINITELY had physical possession of M1873 Carbine 36451 as recently as August 2003!

My RECOLLECTION is that the carbine did NOT have tacks, but, it DID have some other marks, the nature of which I'll not be divulging at present.

Something is odd here. Ask your family of they know whether your grandfather had any firearms dealings with an "H. Egdorf", or a "Silas Messer"?

For the record, there are NO records of two TDs EVER having the same number, and, there is NOTHING in my database to suggest a "probability" as opposed to the ever-present, in that general range, "possibility" of 37857 being an LBH carbine.

The plot, as they say, thickens!
