That's what makes me suspect on these rifles I'm finding with the serial numbers after the cartouche date. Some spreads are way out there. Doesn't hurt the usefulness of the piece but I like 'em to be in the ball park. I collect 'em & want only the "correct", "unmessed with" ones. Maybe some Receivers were held back by SNA for some reason? Don't know.

Question is, are we running out of "virgin" weapons of quality???

By the by. I have a side plate with the 1884 date. Is this a Bannermans?
